Roof Reconstruction

Rebuilding safety, stability, and peace of mind.

Across Puerto Rico, many families are still living with roof damage caused by storms and hurricanes. What began as an emergency repair has, for too many households, become years of leaks, water intrusion, and unsafe living conditions.

PRoTechos works with families, community leaders, municipalities, and partner organizations to rebuild roofs for households facing vulnerable housing conditions—helping them regain safety, stability, and peace of mind in the homes they have fought to keep.

How we rebuild

Step 1
We listen first.

Every project starts with a home visit. Our team assesses the damage, meets the family, and documents what the roof — and the household — actually needs. No two homes are the same, and we don't treat them that way.

Step 2
We build with the community.

Our carpentry crews are led by experienced builders and joined by trainees from the same communities we serve. Through our Learn & Serve model, every roof we rebuild also builds local skills that stay in Puerto Rico.

Step 2
We build to last.

We don't patch. We reconstruct roofs designed to withstand the next storm — using resilient construction methods and quality materials, so families aren't back where they started after the next hurricane season.

Our vision

A Puerto Rico where a safe, resilient roof is never determined by a family's income — where every home can withstand the next storm, and every community has the hands to build it.

Who We Serve

We work to reach every family living under an unsafe roof, prioritizing households with serious roof damage after storms and those left out of other aid — families who don't qualify for government programs or can't afford private contractors.

Among them, we give priority to:
